Daimler, Benz, Maybach and Mercedes

Going through the house this morning and evaluating the damage of the storm was fun. One picture crooked, one fell over, garden had the chairs all over, and one bucket was spotted with a neighbor while we were on the way to the baker.

Once that was over, there was clothes cleaning, hanging up outside, going shopping, and eventually going to the Daimler museum. Arrive, look out of the window, see 45 degrees bucketing rain. Remember that previous sentence about hanging up clothes? We were quite happy to see that the clothes stander was still standing under the car port roof, and most of the clothes were even still on it.

But Mercedes! Lots of historic vehicles, starting with a lot of huge engines attempting to work their way towards the first HP. Museum was a lot more about simply showing the range of mercedes vehicles from the dawn of time, but for a company that has produced so many technological advances and luxuries, it was a little sad to not have more of a focus on some of it.

But favorite story, the origin of where the Silberpfeil (silver-arrow) name came from. Mercedes was building a race car, were planning to send it to a 700kg, race, and arbitrarily chose white for the paint. Now, unforunately the car weighed 701kg so they decided to polish it, which revealed the bare metal underneath, making the car the silver-arrow.

But another relaxing day survived, and while rain was around, it wasn't anywhere near as much as the forecast threatened. Which means that since the forecast only threatens a little rain tomorrow, there should actually be clear skies, right?
