Delft

So … I'm kind of tired. And just want to go to bed. How did I end up this badly?

I got left alone in Delft today. Everybody else was busy doing other important things, so I just started walking around Delft. And then I walked some more. And then a little more. And then the sun came out and I walked through the blazing sun. And then the bus didn't come so I decided to just walk back. And then I got together with other people again at which point I walked some more. All in all, the 35km of walking shouldn't have killed me, but possibly not all in one go, directly after coming from my life of sitting at a desk.

Delft is also rather small, so I accidentally left Delft at some point when walking around. And walking seemed to lead to a lot of dead ends, which resulted in more walking. One of these was going to the Science Museum which was closed because it was too hot. And then the shortcut I was going to take to make a nicer route back got interrupted by the train track which did not seem to want to have any possibility to get past other than walking everything back.

Rotterdam was also briefly attacked before we had to leave the Netherlands. There's currently a festival going on, which has multiple caravans of people with big drums walking on the massive streets. Trying to walk the other way is like convincing a wall that it should follow you onto a plane. But at least we got to see a little bit more of the things that happened yesterday at high speed. And I got to go on a tram, and that's always good.

It's still scary how long the sun stays up. And the temperature is also still a little bit on the hot side. Would be nice not to need to call for help to remove myself from the door handle upon walking in the door of our current homebase. But there are thunderstorms announced for tomorrow. Hopefully they don't try to compensate too badly.
