Tübingen

Well ... it's certainly quite a statement. In the middle of seemingly nowhere, you get a giant concrete tower with "self-cleaning" fiberglass shrouds that comes with 12 elevator shafts. And that's what it does: test elevators. Theoretically pretty cool in terms of designing something where you can change the elevators over time depending on what you need to performs tests on. Sadly, the stress tests do not involve letting the public ride the individual elevators up and down till they get dizzy. But they are very proud of having the tallest public viewing platform in Germany. Which would be slightly more impressive if it was stuck between a bunch of other buildings and as such would use that height to be able to look over them.

Otherwise, Germany continues to remain green. I don't know whether the green part has been mentioned before. I know that human eyes are most sensitive to the color green but somehow I feel like they might be overdoing it a bit around here. And yet the locals continue to tell me that it's meant to be more green.

It's partly also surprising that you seem to be able to find the remains of some form of castle on basically every hill. Some of them seem to have been better at defending themselves than others given that occasionally you will drive past one which beautifully sits upon a mountain and looks majestic from afar, and occasionally you come across the remains of a wall with rather little left to identify. Washinoko tried looking in the smaller gaps too but didn't get very far.

The evening took me towards Tübingen, a city which some of my other travel companions had already spent the day exploring. They were able to point out all the good Crêpes shops for me, that some of the buildings used to look really fancy when you actually had sunlight to see them, and why accomodation appeared to be so very difficult to find in this city. The first one didn't help me given that they were all closed by the time I arrived. The last one had to do with the fact that there was a big tri-athlon happening today which blocked most of the city. Maybe it wasn't the worst day to have spent somewhere else instead of amongst the crowds and mostly blocked passages.

As for the middle one, well, what my eyes may not be able to make out anymore in the fading light, my camera seems to be having a jolly good attempt at.
