Friday Night Sydney
Went to Sydney as I wanted to go to a conference the next day. But before we even get to the conference day, this trip has already had its fair share of entertainment.
The first one being that one of the people in the car seemed to have taken it into their head that a shipping container makes the best home ever. It's portable as you can put it on a truck. Yet it's stationary enough that you could connect appliances to it. And land to put it on is cheap.
In contrast to this, renting is expensive and it just keeps on costing you. Owning a house ties you down to that place. And a camper van doesn't have a shower and therefore has you looking like a hobo. But a shipping container has all these problems solved.... this may not have been the only topic they felt strongly about.
Having arrived and checked in, I decided to walk over to darling harbour considering how close I was. This was the part that I realised that this was Friday night. This meant: the pubs were loud, and the people louder. At least the ones which were still standing upright.
But at least this place has life after 5pm. In fact it was still going when I left the harbour around 2am. This being a Friday night, this also meant that the place was decorated in a corresponding large amount of vomit.
And people started doing increasingly healthy life decisions around you. One was a girl chasing an injured rat around, being extremely proud when they caught it, showing their friend, got bitten, and dropping it again. Security made an appearance at this stage, didn't really know what to do with the rat, and subsequently started chatting up the girls who were playing with it in the first place.
Hopefully Sydney looks a little bit more shiny again in the morning.
