Gecko

Tasmanian roads are weird. Rarely does the road actually seem to be smooth but most of the time it seems to have a slight ripple in it, which is infinitely magnified by our glorious suspension, and constantly shakes our motorhome which always sounds like it's on the brink of falling apart. Plus, leave it to the Tasmanian's to put roundabouts onto 110km/h roads.

We were reminded again by how every tourist trap suddenly has to whip up price tags. Cradle Mountain, a place where we expected a nice simple two hour hike turned into a visitor centre, the need for a $60 combined ticket, a shuttle bus to take us the rest of the way to the hike, and only then could the park fulfil its purpose.
On the return trip we were told how lucky we all were about the weather. They receive 250 days of rain, 40 days of snow, and 40 days of sunshine a year. We never found out what happens during the other 35 days of the year though…

The wildlife in Tasmania is surprisingly relaxed. We have yet to see any big kangaroos to leave marks in the front of our exceedingly dirty bonnet, and this gecko stayed sitting on the boardwalk even after almost having multiple people stepping on him. And before you all come flooding with obvious replies: He did move his head! He just didn't run away. Echidnas also seem to replace wombats as small creatures crawling over the roads, except that they do it in daylight as well.
