Into the warmth

So, the day didn't exactly start warm. In fact, rather the opposite, given the amount of rain. At least, this gave me a great opportunity to use my brand new, shiny umbrella. I'm glad that Tokyo ageed that a 20 second test to the nearest subway entrance was enough, as I consequently spent all my time under various connecting tunnels and trains, until the rain went away. But what it left was a lot of cold.

So we went to the Onsen / Resort in Odaiba. This consequently had so much heat that I ended up having to sit outside a couple of times so that I could enjoy warming myself up again. I even managed to partly go into the ice bath in order to cool myself down. Though, adimittidely, not for long, and not a lot of me came into contact with the 20 degrees ice cube.

I had caught in the news at some point that the old Gundam figure in Odaiba had been taken down, and today I found its replacement. Now with far more lights than the previous one, and obviously also a girl Gundam. (I'm glad none of you actually watch Gundam, as otherwise I would probably get shot at this point in your reading.)

The peak hour experience from yesterday has already been beaten by trying to get onto the Ginza line today. It is one of the oldest Subway lines in Tokyo, and consequently has one of the shortest trains, and is one of the busiest. Not a lot of my movements in that carriage were voluntery, eventually being clamped between three people in a triangle around me.

(The above two pictures are actually panning shots accross the funny illuminated lines in the shot below. This effect is something that the human brain can also produce though it's weird how being able to see it is somewhat on whether you are also panning your eyes over it, at which point you can even start seeing the picture with no gaps as it flows over the lines. The whale shark was me getting the panning just right so that things actually overlapped correctly, while bus shows a bit more how it actually works.)

Today was a slightly slower, catch up on sleep and relax day. Tomorrow we start early though, getting a rental out of Tokyo for a day trip. So, more peak hour shenanigans await to first get to the car, this time without the benefit of having woken up yet …
