Koala!

Change in scenery succeeded. We found a rainforest to walk through. One of my travel partners thought this was a great opportunity for hiking and immediately stocked himself up with 3L of water and enough chips to feed a small army. This ended with him desperately trying to drink as much out of him water bottle 5m before we got back to the parking lot, just so that he didn't carry 3kg for nothing. The walks we found were rather short, though we offered to pick him up again in case he wanted to the do the only non-short walk around, which was 8 days.

Today we found the serious tourist sections of the great ocean road. Those sections which get a parking lot the size of a small nation and enough flies to annoy every single visitor. Though the contrast was quite funny when you travelled 5km in either direction of the 9 Apostles, everything is suddenly completely empty again. Where do they all stay?

Our camping area turned into a complete disaster. We watched the sunset at the 9 Apostles and then headed for the campground we booked over the phone and paid for. When we got there, we found that we could either get really close to the campground but not make the last 200m because of a bridge for which we were about double the height and double the weight of the restrictions. Or we had to drive 5km on dirt road designed by someone with a fetish for speed bumps (as in, the road was completely broken and covered in ripples).

The only good thing which came of this, as we explored the two ways to get to this campsite, I saw my first Koala in the wild! It couldn't have been an overly clever one though considering that it was calmly sitting in the middle of the lane ...
