La Paloma

I appear to be slowly reaching the "travelled out" stage. I'm not quite jumping on every opportunity to see every new thing. We read through the guide, left ourselves a lot of pins of all of the hundreds of amazing places that we could go, went to the park, and stared at the sky for a while, listening to the water. Productive!

As a side note, all of the pins we dropped ended up within walking distance of the hotel which means: "Yay, we picked somewhere really central" but "That would have been good to know before we bought ourselves a tourist unlimited three day travel pass for the metro." At least we did still get some use out of the tickets up to now.

Streets don't really get less busy at night, just darker. We did however at some point notice a rather strong flow in one direction and decided to follow. The consequence of which was that we got stuck between a lot of people, surrounded by big speakers and a lot of beer. At this point we walked far enough away to be able to breath again, and looked up what on earth we just walked into. The festival appears to be named after "La Paloma" and as far as I can work out, it's a rock festival to celebrate a painting of someone who might have been religious.

So we walked back, found a seat just over a hill from the music and listened for a while. The audio quality wasn't great considering that all the low frequencies went through the hill and all the higher frequencies were only heard with a time delay off of the building in front of us. And the view could have been better considering that the trees in front of us were getting very well fertilised. But hey, the music was kind of cool for a free festival that you could just accidentally walk into.
