To answer your first question: No, it is not two o'clock in the morning. Not even in Australia, though they're quite a bit closer.

So I've discovered the great secret to showing beautiful sceneries on lookouts: tree placement. The city is kind of misty all over, and today certainly wasn't one of its better days. But when we walked up to the castle in the centre of town to have a look, it took us quite a while to find a spot where we weren't just completely surrounded by dense trees.

There are two nice things about the picture of the castle.

  1. The roof is lined with huge spikes on the corners. And if you look carefully enough, those are actually more like the Chinese version of gargoyles, in quantities to put any european church to shame. I guess one just wasn't enough.
  2. At the left edge of the picture, you can actually look all the way to the docks. They really roll out the red carpet for the naval invaders around here.

We also had our last and fourth formal dinner with the faculty. We specifically managed to order: no eyes, no bones. And this ended up actually quite well, with one of the best prepared pieces of meat I've had (they seem to prefer extremely chewy usually) and another nice salad. Though official dinners all seem to need to be held in rather weird upper class restaurants which I would usually never step into.

I say our last formal dinner, as this is our last night, and there's not much opportunity to catch us before we leave tomorrow. We are still teaching one more two hours session, and then we are off to Shanghai where we finally actually get to be tourists (though we might still skip strapping a camera to our belly).
