Long Way Home

Survived! At the end of the last blog entry, we were just about to get onto our first overnight flight, and we’ve finally finished our second night of flying. After the fun of having to suddenly rearrange flights to catch other flights, everything else actually went perfectly smoothly.

And somehow, to get from Macau back to Australia, we ended up dropping by everywhere we’ve been to again. After clearing up the flights in the Macau, we missed the ferry which goes directly to the airport so we needed to catch the ferry to central Hong Kong, and take the train to the airport (which means we immigrated into the country for around 6 hours).

Our new set of flights took us to Tokyo via Seoul, with a 4 hour stopover for which we managed to find a comfortable chair to snore in.

In Tokyo we immigrated into the country for an hour, to grab our luggage, change terminals, and check it back in. We them managed to get a room for 4 hours to sleep (in the middle of the day), with one of the walls being basically glass. And since the place was actually past security, stuck between a few of the gates, it had a terrific view of the planes coming in and going out.

And with our last flight being a bit bumpy, it ended with one of the smoothest landings I’ve had considering the steep descent onto the glide slope, and the rain. Which gets me to the next topic: rain.

On this trip, I’ve been freezing for most of it, and gracefully got some warmth in China. But the weather that I got to look forward to when arriving in Australian summer is 15 degrees rain. sigh
