Melbourne in the Cold
Well, the title is a little deceiving as nothing seems to be as capable as Canberra when it comes to squeezing the living heat out of humans.
I've lived in Australia for a few years, but never really discovered the city of Melbourne before, having merely passed through in the past. Since it's recent discovery though, this makes my fourth visit, and it's still ridiculously far away using the 110km/h roads of Australia.
The arrival at the hotel was fun considering that the parking garage appears to have been designed around: 'If you don't need the centimetre, you don't get it'. Reversing due to lack of turning circle, may have had to happen a few times. We were also quite happy about how high up we were in our hotel building when we saw the elevator only had 13 floors. Till we discovered that our room was in the building next door with a significantly larger button panel.
The building opposite us seems to have had a committee deciding the window size. I'll admit that it looks interesting from the outside but some of those windows are comparable to what you got on the side of a boat.
It's bizare being in a city again though. The queue of cars lining up to park their cars at the casino instead of trying to get away at 10 o'clock at night is a bit overdoing it though.
There aren't any grand plans for Melbourne at the moment besides to exploit my availability of holidays. But I'm sure we'll find plenty.
