München

The forecast has finally stopped threatening and started delivering. We drove through a fair amount of rain on our journey to München, and it continued to try and make things miserable by constantly teasing us by showing us a little bit of blue skies and then dumping another bucket of water over our heads. Tomorrow's forecast also doesn't look much better after it was cheerily worded in the tram as: "Summer is taking a break". Luckily we have an indoor activity planned for most of that. Though I'm also glad that I brought my winter coat.

München is our entry point to Bavaria, a state which is well known for its international contribution of Oktoberfest. With Dirndls, Lederhosen, and enough beer to satify even Australians. Given my love of all three, sometimes I wonder whether Bavaria should become its own country so that we can put a country border between us and them. And walking around the old city, for a while I did start wondering whether I might have accidentally crossed a country border because the amount of German I could hear on the street dropped to near zero.

In general though, I was failing to fall in love with the vibe of the city. Though that may have been again due to it teasing me with the above beautiful sunset view, before quickly turning into the raining view below.
