New Toys

So, in Shinjuku I was looking at things that I wanted, but they were all too expensive and not really necessary, and as such my bank account didn’t really suffer in the process. This some process was not repeatable for a place such as Akihabara. There were far too many gadgets that were calling out to me. Headphones, keyboards, model trains, batteries, anime, etc. etc. etc. I count it as a plus that my bank account is still in the positive, and so long as I stay from away from that place for the rest of this trip, I should still have something to eat.

That was unfortunately the daylight period of the day. By the time we managed to get out of the shops with out bank accounts poorer, the light was already starting to fade. In some ways that doesn’t really have to be a bad thing though considering that this city really lights up during the night.

Yesterday’s Joypolis experience does not appear to have been enough for my travel companions thirst of roller coasters. So we tried something that got the description in our guide of “Heart in your throat”. Rating: “It didn’t actually go all the way upside down”. Question: How was the view? Answer: Sideways. It still appears to have been an improvement on yesterdays roller coaster experience. At least, for them. Another funny advantage of this theme park seemed to have been that it had a supermarket (eh … what?) and it was the first place up to now where we could find fruit (so many convenience stores everywhere, and none of them have fruit).

On the helpful advice of friend, there was a park which was holding an event where they would be open during the night with lighting which turned out to be really nice. Seems to have been an event which only the locals were privy too considering that we seemed to have been the only tourists at this, but it was still pretty packed. The park actually hired quite a few people which seemed to do nothing but make sure people didn’t stray off the path and onto the grass.

There are still so many things to do and while we re not quite at the end yet, we already start realising that our days are very much numbered.
