Now with light

After having tried to beat the tourists yesterday, today we waited for them to get tired and leave again before we arrive. And that even worked mostly, the stream of people was certainly heading the other way at the entrance, and the longer we were there, the less people we had to fight.

And we had blue skies again today, weather to wear a T-Shirt (so I only wore one jacket), and of course the light has to come from the wrong direction for the waterfalls. The water at the bottom of the waterfalls looks really pretty, shimmering in the light, but the actual falls were all in the shade. Admittedly, this fact produced more complaints from the photographers than from me.

We also visited a close town that seemed to have more waterfall than actual town. To compensate for this, they built parts of the town on the actual waterfalls, having the water pouring out from just underneath the buildings. Some of those houses also have rooms you can book. Very quiet nights presumably.

(That tiny stuff in the foreground are lots and lots of tiny fish)

But we're starting to realise that the area around the Plitvička Lakes has little more to offer than a million places to stay while visiting the lakes. The signs for all these lodges give you a bit of appreciation for the kind of tourists that come here considering that some of the "Rooms" signs are only in German, or at least have it in German before English.

Either way, time to move on, back to the coast. Hopefully we find a slightly less touristy section of beach where we can enjoy what is almost our last day in Croatia. :-O
