Osaka (大阪市) Winter
After enjoying a little bit of extra sleep and preparing more for our immediate surrounding region, we headed out to see the city that we had actually landed in last night. And when one of us heard that we were in the city with the worlds largest Aquarium, there was no way that we would not go. And it helped that there was a correspondingly big Ferris Wheel directly next to it.
We also visited the Osaka castle, which suddenly hit me with some pretty strong memories of having visited this place the last time over two years ago, also with Washinoko squeezing himself into every picture, but during the Cherry Blossom season. It’s weird how such a sight can hit me in the face like that considering that I was halfway through a sentence when I spotted the castle and just stopped and stared. At least, till Washinoko insisted on the next picture.
Dinner was back in the nightlife district, and I’m so happy that food actually isn’t a problem for me anymore. There’s so much stuff around here that I’ll eat. Unfortunately, the stores that we also wanted to explore around that region closed at around 8pm, so the night life district is not as completely lively as hoped. Ice cream shops were also impossible to find. And a hot chocolate cost as much as a meal…
Instead of taking the train home, we decided to actually walk back from the nightlife district, to find a cute park to relax at on the 9th floor on the way. Nice lights to enjoy the city lights from with a lot of other lights illuminating the surrounding trees. We were however interrupted a little spontaneously at midnight when the lights all suddenly turned off and we started to worry whether they may have locked the place without us. Luckily, getting out wasn’t a problem.
Tomorrow should have us getting a little bit more out of town. The exact plans of which will be worked out when it is not 2 in the morning.
