Rainbows in the park
And today is another beautiful sunny day … someone appears to be trying to tease me by putting pouring rain on the day I want sun and putting beautiful warm sunshine on either side. At least it did really get warm today, letting me walk around like a normal person and not dressed like the snowman I usually look like.
It being a transfer day, the luggage was first migrated to a locker at Tokyo station before exploring around Akihabara. Which, as I probably mentioned last time as well, is a really bad life choice for my wallet. There are so many gizmos, figures, and things that I generally would spontaneously find a hole in my life for. At least one of those holes got filled. I guess I have to preserve at least a few of the holes to make sure that I come back.
It’s been a while since I’ve been on a Shinkansen, but luxury of this high quantity and fast transporter is always pleasantly surprising. This thing sits (16 cars, 20 rows per car, 5 seats per row) 1600 people! (Possibly a few less when you consider that I’m one of the peasants that’s only enjoying the luxuries of second class.) The ability to take the luggage with you, plenty of foot room, comfortable seats, and being driven with very long acceleration and deceleration phases to make the stops as soft as possible. And then they even have food on the platform to take with you. Sadly no curry though.
Unfortunately, moving around today, I noticed that my little suitcase had been cracked. The thing is covered in stickers from flights that have taken the two of us all over the place. It’s a little ironic that I had originally bought it from Tokyo. Maybe my next destination will have to find me a suitable replacement, or I get to hope that the flight back won’t break it in two and I get to pick up clothes in a lump from the luggage collect conveyer.
