There's no stopping the night, only the train.

It is currently three in the morning so maybe we stick with the quick version today. We finally managed to find the night life district of Seoul and somehow thought that things might calm down at some point and that we would then naturally go home. When this didn’t happen and we got sleepy, we decided to head for the train only to discover that they long shut down. But that just proves how much fun the night life is, the clubs, the games, and the live music.

The live music was probably one of the most authentic Korean experiences. Being part of an audience receiving jokes between the band setting up for the next Jazz piece. It certainly felt nice even if Jazz isn’t particularly Korean and that we didn’t understand a word.

The trains have been letting me down a bit. I keep on making the mistake of just heading for the nearest gate, tagging though and then trying to find the right platform. Occasionally you actually have to get the correct gate for the right direction, otherwise there’s no way to turn around without going out, buying a new ticket and then heading back in. I have also had three times now where I got stuck behind the gate, trying to leave, and my ticket only producing an error. Who knows why considering my friends always got out having bought the same ticket. Funnily enough though the gates remember the language the ticket machine was set to when issuing the ticket, so I at least get told in English that I’m in error.

The protests seem to be going quite strong around here. At least, I assume it’s the protests against the President here that had us going through a circle of placards and shouting people as we simply were trying to catch an escalator. And while we’ve seen a lot of police hanging around in various sections, usually turning up in the 20’s or 40’s, there was not a single cop to be seen with these demonstrators who were still there when we went back about an hour later.

Tomorrow we catch the train to Busan, hopefully getting to enjoy some of the sights out of the window as opposed to just falling asleep on the train. But a new city gets us a new adventure, right?
