Ulm
I know, I missed a day, but somehow I also didn't really have enough to fill an entire blog entry. We went a long way to go shopping, I remembered why shopping wasn't really my thing, and then we went back. And by then, the day was gone. :-(
At least I finally managed to get a new summer jacket. Something that I've been looking for for quite a while and maybe I've finally found it. We'll have to see how well it holds up in the warmer temperatures or whether I just makes me boil.
But at least today, today we compensated with a rather long day. Got up early in the morning, as one of us had an appointment at 10, in Ulm, which was a little under 300km away. Navigation system said 2.5 hours. We gave ourselves just over three hours. Unfortunately consistent speed isn't really a thing. Occasionally you do 80 in a construction zone. Occasionally you do 160 to try and catch up for the construction zone. But no matter how hard we tried to press the gas pedal to the floor, we came late. But at least only by 5 minutes.
While we were in Ulm, we of course had to go up the tallest church spire in the world. This … involves a lot of steps. Lots. Many. By the time that you arrive at the top, you wonder how you are ever going to make it down again, as your legs appear to be unwilling to help in this task.
To finish off our day, we spent another three hours in the car, not driving directly back but visiting someone else on the way. There was less of a rush this time, though there were also more traffic jams this time. I guess you can't have everything.
There's also only one full day left of Germany to cram in all the other things that I haven't done for a while. But at least then the relaxing "holidays" can finally start.
