Actual Zürich

Before we ran on, we had to have another look at the view, which worked out well for us as the clouds had moved on / fixed the rendering bug, so that we could actually see the opposite mountain tips. And pictures don't really seem to do it justice. Where we were staying was just low enough that our hotel wasn't actually covered in snow, but high enough that there were still a few snow patches on its roof and around. Then you think about the fact that some of those tips are still 2km higher than our position, more than my height from sea level at the time, and at some point your brain decides that all those zeros are someone else's problem.

I've been to the Zürich airport on several occasions, but never actually in the city. And I thought Hong Kong was a culture shock. In Hong Kong, you specifically saw a lot of Tesla models driving about as the pollution tax applied to most cars made electric cars actually far more financially viable. In Zürich, the $300,000 cars just seemed to line up and appear from every corner. The city appears to be stinking rich, even though the buildings really don't look it when you're driving in. The net result of which is that in the city center you can get yourself a snack with a price tag that people usually regard with a family dinner. Plus drinks.

My trip is over now though. I'm sitting in the hotel close to Zürich airport, getting ready to sleep and prepare for the very long way home. Washinoko was on this trip but a little bit sad that he wasn't able to poss for as many pictures as he's used to. Hopefully I'll be able to deal with the timezone shift back as gracefully as the timezone shift to here, before I get accused of being a Zombie as I attempt to jump back into my previous routine of work, friends, and sleep.
